    Windows10 1909 starts fresh after every restart *Groundhog Day*


    Update 1909 was installed by mistake - long story. Windows update says it was a successful install. It starts fine but it isn't saving any customizations made. Everytime it starts up it acts like I just finished the 1909 update: it opens up with the Edge 'Welcome to Windows' tab... all the browers add-ins are forgotten, it forgets that Firefox was set to my default browser, I have to re-accept my MS Office license, Onedrive has to resync, etc, etc.


    Windows Update troubleshooter does not detect any issues.

    Fresh USB Windows 10 Install - Failing

    I am trying to install a fresh copy (reformatted the hard disk) of windows 10 using a USB

    • Created an installation media on a USB flash drive (Win 10 pro) from this page Download Windows 10
    • Changed the boot order on the other PC so that it boots using USB
    • Selected custom install
    • Installing Windows goes through the following steps successfully: Copying Windows Files, Getting Files ready for installation, Installing features, Installing updates and before the last step (Finishing up), it restarts
    • Then it goes back to the start of the installation steps

    I am stuck and have read numerous posts but don't know what to do to install a fresh copy of Win 10.

    Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

    Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

    Steps to confirm issue:

    • Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
    • Secondary drive not visible in device manager
    • Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

    Steps to replicate issue:

    • Installing 1909 update

    Steps to resolve issue:

    • Uninstall 1909 update

    Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.

    I want to debug an error that occurs when Windows10 starts, the error disappears too quick for me to save the error. I searched for ntbtlog.txt; not sure if this log file exists on Windows10, any suggestion ?
