Windows 10: Windows10 clean install stuck in boot loop and now unable to clean install again as HD not...

Hello group,

i hope i might find some answers. Have been struggling to get my personal laptop working from past 2 days. Issue started after the latest Windows 10 update.

1. Login was damn slow and black flickering desktop with no access to task manager

2. Same in safe mode

3. Sfc, dism all thew errors. Reset, clean reset none of them fixed the problem.


tried downloading media file into external hard disk, first time tried installing it

1. Automatic repair > cmd prompt > hard disk drive:/setup

2. Installation option showed, updated language > accepted agreement> deleted partitioned drives and selected only 1 unallocated drive from laptop

3. Installation went fine but got stuck at boot step. Kept on going in loop. At some point i removed the usb.


Isuue still exist, i am not able to do clean install as there are disk drive. Diskpart list shows 0. Bootrec commands not recognised.

Lenovo 330s , had windows10 when bought. Looks like there is no OS now.

How do i come out of this ? Please help.

Clean Install Workaround for Vista

You may remember this news story on techPowerUp! a couple of days ago relating to the lack of clean installs when using the Upgrade Editions of Vista, which required an old OS to be installed. However, Paul Thurrott has managed to find a workaround for this issue, which ironically lets users do a clean install Vista without any previous version of Windows, albeit a little tedious. Here are the steps:

• Boot from the Windows Vista Upgrade DVD as normal
• When prompted for a product code, leave this blank
• Select the version of Vista you have purchased and let Vista install
• When you boot to your desktop for the first time, run the Vista setup from Windows
• This time enter your product key
• When asked whether you want to do an Upgrade of Custom install, select custom and choose a clean install
• Windows will now install for a second time and you should be able to activate it

Remember, these steps are only advised for use in order to achieve a clean install of Vista, it is only legal to use the upgrade editions if you have previously purchased the appropriate version of Windows.

Windows Vista Clean Installation

To do a clean install on a fresh hard drive with Vista on an upgrade disc, you have to follow certain steps. Buying a full install CD would've been easier, but using the upgrade disc only adds more time, so it's not that big of a deal.

Can install Windows, can't install Linux

Are you doing a clean install?

Also if you are doing a clean install may I suggest this. Delete and format all partitions and let Ubuntu allocate the drive. You might have some MBR files left on the HD that is conflicting with Ubuntu booting.
