Windows 10: Windows10>Great app is on its way issue persists

My start menu is resetting everytime into icons showing a download button icon telling me that a great app is on its way.

I have tried the fixes suggested by all other online forums but none of them seem to work for me.


One other observation is that everytime I restart, all of my apps show that they have been recently added within the start menu.





I have run all windows updates, tried removing bloatware, updating system drivers. I have been using this machine for over 3 years now and problem occured after the last creators update in Nov-Dec 2018 timeframe.


Computer details: HP ProBook 450G3

My user settings are controlled by a remote admin (Microsoft), I am a vendor here.

A great App is on it's way ????

I've done three clean installs of 15063 and twice found tiles on my start menu that read "a great app is on the way". I know that I can delete them but how did they get there? Are there other issues with my installations? All apps seem to be up to date.

Please advise

I just got a new laptop and on the start menu it says for about half of the apps "a great app is on it's way!"

how do I fix this?

Hey Schmo. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

Let HP run it's initial setup or it will just keep running it. HP makes great hardware, but until you reinstall or run the Start Fresh you're fighting against the worst load of bloatware in the industry - a reason no enthusiast will run a Factory Install, of
which HP is worst.

Then first check if there's an Uninstall button in Settings > Apps > Apps & Features which is safest way to uninstall.

If not you can use this Uninstaller script from one of the wizards at MS Technet:

I would also go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done:

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files. Then continue with the other steps to go over your install most
thoroughly.

Just performing Step 4 will shut off most of the HP bloatware that saps System Resources, while it's important to then repair System files it might have damaged in Step 10.

You can also do the glad standard Clean Install which should get you past all difficulties as it has hundreds of thousands of others who have followed the steps in this link and never come back to report another problem:

There is also an automated Fresh Start that reinstalls WIndows while shedding corrupting factory bloatware, saves your files, but doesn't clear the drive to get it cleanest:
