Windows 10: windows11 23h2 install error 0x800f081f.

how to fix the issue. already run troubleshooter then services.msc then cleared caches also. still, the error is showing.

Window 11 23H2 failed to upgrade with 0x800f081f

Hi

I was in the insider beta program and currently on 22623.1325. My windows update stopped updating a while ago. I was so happy when I finally saw 23H2 appeared. I could finally get back to a stable release build. However I kept on getting 0x800f081f after 100% installation and then the installation completely failed. Any suggestion on how to fix the problem?

As already mentioned in your another thread you can download Windows 11 ISO from MS download site and use it for in-place update.

In-place update:

Download Windows 11 v23H2 ISO and mount it (double click or right click and select mount). On new virtual disk run setup.exe to start in-palce update. This procedure will give released Windows 11 version 23H2 build 22631.2428 and it allow to keep personal files and installed apps. When in-place update is completed use Windows Update to check for updates.

Hi,

I have followed the instructions below until i get to set 2. and it is just jargon to me... what does mount the iso image that's created in step 1?

Is there a simple youtube video i can just follow?

To fix the error codes for Windows 10, follow these steps:

1. Download the Windows Media Creation tool, and create an ISO image locally, or create an image for the version of Windows that you have installed.
2. Configure the Group Policy as in Method 2, but also follow these steps:
   1. Mount the ISO image that's created in step 1.
   2. Point the "Alternate source file path" to the ISO sources\sxs folder from the ISO.
   3. Run the gpupdate /force command.
   4. Add the .Net framework feature.
