Windows 10: Windows11 - all USB connected storages are read-only

Hi,on my laptop with Windows11 Home V:23H2 B:22631.3155 all drives are read onlyno matter if it is flash, ssd, or normal hdd.On other computers these drives work normally.I tried registry \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies -> WriteProtect:0 with no effect.Diskpart says CURRENT READ-ONLY STATE: YES, Read-only: NO applying attributes disk clear readonly does nothingcompmgmt.msc -> Storage -> Disk Management shows these disks as read-only whole disks, not only partitions!Any suggestions, please?Don't want to make factory-state :-Thx!

How to read USB pen drive

Performed steps as advised Pls see attached photo After finish, now I can copy/paste files on the USB drive. I'll test the USB drive on a Linux computer later. Thanks for your advice. Another question; How can I read/retrieve files on WDC WD2002FAEX-007BAO WDC WD2005VBYZ-02RRWB2 They are storage drives - ext4 and; Samsung SSD 860 EVO 2TB SanDisk SDSSDH3250G They are Linux drives on this PC Pls see attached photo device_manager Thanks Regards

 

All USB storage devices have code 39 error

Hi Ilya,

Please answer these questions to assist you better.

• Do you get same error codes in the Device manager too?
• Does this issue occurs in other hardware components like keyboard and mouse?
• What is the make and model of your computer?
• Do you get same error when you connect your extenal hard drive to a different computer running Windows 10?

I appreciate the troubleshooting steps you have tried to resolve the issue.

I suggest you to check in Device Manager and check if you get the same error code. If yes follow link and perform the troubleshooting steps suggested under

  Did you make any changes in BIOS?
  
• 
  Are you getting any error message?
  

I suggest you to update Storage controller drivers and check if it helps.

Steps 1:

• 
  Press Windows key + X.
  
• 
  Select Device manager.
  
• 
  Expand Storage controller.
  
• 
  Right click on the driver and Update the drivers.
  

Steps 2: Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue
is with device. Refer these steps:

• 
  Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
  
• 
  Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
  
• 
  Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.
