Windows 10: Windows11 not detecting usb security key needed for banking

Hello, I need to use a usb security key to log and make movements in my bank account. I insert the usb key and the device manager shows me "Other devices -> Unkown device". "The drivers for this device are not installed. Code 28 There are no compatible drivers for this device. To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver."And of course the update driver and search never fixes the issueThe process of:Settings -> Account -> Sign in options -> security key -> manage Ens up on an endless spining loop and a message "insert your security key into the usb port" when the us

In order to get better clarity on the issue, please let us know:

• When you say “got deleted off usb or usb flash drive is not working either way", are you unable to use USB flash drive on the computer?
• When you say “I don't exactly have a security key", which security key are you referring to?
• Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? Refer
  Which version of Windows operating system am I running?

I would suggest you to try plugging the USB to a different USB port and check if that helps. You can also try connecting the USB to a different computer and check.



Meanwhile, I would suggest you to refer the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the article

Error: “USB Device not recognized" when you try to access a USB external hard drive except Method 1 & 2 and see if that makes any difference.



A security key is a physical device that you can use instead of your user name and password to sign in. Since it’s used in addition to a fingerprint or PIN, even if someone has your security key, they won’t be able to sign in without the PIN or fingerprint
that you create.​​​



However, if you had configured security key earlier by any chance, you may refer Sign
in to your Microsoft account with Windows Hello or a security key.

That made me so facepalm. Some people have absolutely no clue. I hope they don't take you for granted with all this you're doing for them.

SonicWall is a good security product, so Mindweaver's suggestion sounds like a good one and should make for a rather bigger baby step. Let's hope they take it.

 

USB not detecting

It's really odd that the update causes your computer not to recognize the USB that you attach to it. There's a possibility that the hardware on your computer got affected as well. However, let us not assume anything yet until we isolated your concern. We
suggest that you run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter. Here are the steps on how to do so:

• Press the Windows key on your keyboard, then search for Troubleshooting.
• Look for Hard and Sound, then select Hardware and Devices.
• Click next to run the troubleshooter.

Once done, check if the issue persists.
