Windows 10: Windows11 Start menu slow to respond.

In the past week, suddenly my Start Menu does not show a result for up to 15 seconds. Type in a search, then blank screen shows with codes with today's date in upper right corner. start menu does not respond can go to edge icon to access windows help start menu suggest go to ms-settings and check ok response was could not find, ran troubleshooter response was required applications are not installed correctly-not fixed. this has
happened in the past and usually fixes itself at some point. help also suggest checking for updates but do not know how to access check for updates?

 

Slow login and Start Menu not responding

Hello. I have a problem with my laptop.

I noticed I had a SYSTEM Z drive and following the advice by a Microsoft member, I changed my permissions through "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object".

Next i ran defender and found something in quarantine called "brolo", or at least that was the only memorable part of the quarantined file. I noticed at the same time the general speed went way down, to the point where clicking on one thing in the Task
Manager left it non-responding. I restarted the computer as defender suggested.

The first thing I noticed was that my laptop had a very slow login. The start bar wasn't responding, neither was the window key. I used task manager to restart Windows Explorer only to have the start bar stop responding again. I must say again - it appears
that everything else works - with the exception of the start bar. I can check my files on Windows Explorer and with the exception of time updating and applications appearing on the bottom right of the start bar i cannot click on them, or interact with cortana,
or click on the start menu, or even use the windows key.

Please help, this is a brilliant and new laptop and I've had no problems with Windows 10 until now.
