Windows 10: WINRAR -right click _add to archive add to filexxx.rar or ad to filexxx.rar and email or...

Please I need some help... When I try to compress a file or multiple files for example 123.doc with the command _right click -winrar-add to archive or add to 123.rar ..or compress and email 123.rar etc nothing happens... I have the same problem on all disks in all folders except the desktop... On the desktop everything works fine... I installed and uninstalled winrar many times My OS is win 11 Pro Thanks in advance

Do you have WinRAR installed on your PC?

If so: right click a RAR, choose 'Open With' - Choose Another App

Important - Check the box marked 'Always use this app to open rar . . .'

If WinRAR is not in the list, scroll to the bottom and click 'More Apps'

Again if WinRAR is not in the list, at the bottom, click 'Look for another app on this PC', then navigate to find the WinRAR executable . . .

 

Corrupted file RAR

If the archive has been created using WinRAR, why don't you try WinRAR itself? It has a built-in repair feature for repairing corrupted archive (ZIP as well as RAR). Follow the steps given below:

• Open WinRAR application in your system.
• Now click on File tab > Open or simply press Ctrl+O.
• A small window "Find Archive" will pop up. Locate the corrupt RAR archive from your system directory and select it.
• Now click Open button.
• Click Tools tab > Repair archive or simply press Alt+R.
• Again a small window "Repairing File name.rar" will pop up.
• Now click Browse to select a location to save the repaired archive.
• Check the box "Treat the corrupt archive as RAR" and click OK.
• WinRAR will start repairing of corrupt RAR archive. Once it gets completed click Close.

I hope the above steps will help you repair the corrupted RAR archive.

windows has .rar files to notepad and I cant switch it to be compatable with WinRAR.
