Windows 10: WINRETOOLS will not optimize/analyze

WINRETOOLS is a proprietary system installed on Dell computers I would suspect that it is not compatible with the OS drive Maintenance system. It could be a recovery drive and therefore consist of some Large files that cannot be defragmented.

I would check with your Dell documentation to see if you can find a description of the use and status of the WINRETOOLS partition If you have the Dell ID reference for the system dell could provide precise build details online

 

WINRETOOLS says it needs optimization, but it won’t analyze the drive nor will it optimize it. It says it’s 14% fragmented but won’t go any further. What can I do to resume the defragmentation of this drive? Any help is much appreciated.

Optimize Drive does not have an option to Analyze C Drive

Hello,

This is my first question here and I'm not very tech savy. I'm running Window 10 on a Dell laptop and it was running kind of sluggish lately and some programs were not running up to par. So I looked at how much was on my C Drive and it was half full (mostly
due to pictures). So I removed the pictures and now it is only about 1/4 full, but everything is still not running right. I checked to see if I could defrag my drive and this is what it showed:





It doesn't even give me an option to analyze and it says "canceling" under last run. When I click on any of the other drives under that it gives me the option to analyze. So my first question is where is the analyze button? Second, why does it say "canceling"?

I looked under the scheduling section and it says it is scheduled for "weekly". Can I not choose to defragment now?

No need to worry about this. There's very little IO activity on recovery or EFI partitions. The only reason you're seeing this message is because you have a drive letter assigned to the recovery partition. Thus, you can either (1) remove the drive letter (recommended) or (2) ignore the message (the lazy person's way out).
