Windows 10: WinSupport 247

I don't know if WinSupport 247 is a scam but feeling like it is. I also have seen other postings that seems to support that they are a scam. Here is my situation: I paid for their services (over $1500 which I now regret) from Nov 2018 to 2019 which seemed to be reputable. They called me several times last night and I finally ended up talking to technical representative. He told me that I was hacked by some hackers and said they would shut down my computer and drain my bank accounts if I didn't let WinSupport put on security protection. We went back and forth and ended up crying, swearing and yelling as I didn't know whether to believe them. Well, my computer locks up while we are talking which I went ballistic. I said I don't want your help and he insisted that I need their help if I pay $1400+. I then went to the Geek Squad at Best Buy who is quite reputable and unfortunately they said they can't recover any of my files as my password has changed, etc. SO I call back WinSupport and they said THEY can fix the problem and recover all my files (deceased loved ones voice mails, pictures, my trust and other critical docs) for a fee of $1486.16 but will take $500 off. I want ALL my files back and Geek Squad said if I had a prior relationship or they had access to my PC that they may be able to help but that was the only way. SHOULD I PAY THEM???

"WinSupport 247" tech support scam?

Hey Ben,

I think WinSupport 247 must be a scam. I looked up "Winsupport 247" on the Microsoft Partner site, and nothing shows up; I think anyone can download an image of the Microsoft Certified Partner emblem and host it on their website. Cold calling is the classic
sign of a tech support scam as well.

Also "Scholes & Associates" seems to be a tax firm than a legal firm, which is a bit funny to me:

I'll yield other opinions from people who actually did have experience with Winsupport, but to me, it doesn't look good for them, and I don't even think that these letters that they're sending him hold any weight.

"WinSupport 247" tech support scam?

A company called "Winsupport 247 LLC" recently cold called a friend, told him his computer was full of viruses, claimed to have Microsoft on another line confirming his problems, and convinced him to let them take control of his computer to fix things
for about $800, which he was to send to them in the form of a check. I have advised him that this was a scam, that he should not pay, and that he should have Windows reinstalled to clear any damage they may have done. Now they are sending him letters from
a "Scholes & Associates" threatening him with legal action if he doesn't pay. Has anyone had experience with Winsupport LLC, good or bad? Also, they claim to be a Microsoft Partner. Any advice on how to verify that? Any way to make a complaint? Thanks.

 

Best Tech 247

Is Best Tech 247 a legitimate Microsoft Support Company? They want $1199.98 to install some IP Blocks on my computer and support services until 2025. Am I being scammed? I have not sent any money yet. HELP!!
