    WinSxS/Temp/InFlight Folder Filling Up


    Hi, recently I've noticed while monitoring my SSD disk usage that the WinSxS/Temp/InFlight has filled up more than normal, the other two folders in Temp are both empty. I've already tried using the Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup and regular Disk Cleanup to try and reclaim the space but they didn't affect the InFlight folder.

    C:\Windows\WinSxS\Temp\InFlight EMPTY FOLDERS

    I have run Disk Cleanup for System Files already a few times and it has done nothing to delete the 4400+ empty folders in C:\Windows\WinSxS\Temp\InFlight. I know enough to never delete even a single file in the Windows folder. What about completely empty
    folders though? Does Windows use the names or metadata of empty folders for system tasks in some sort of weird, poorly-programmed way?

    Inflight file

    I want to tidy up my laptop, running windows 10. i searched on "temp" and found a temp file with a file "inflight" within it.

    It is in C:/winSxS

    It contains almost 946 folders all with names like this.. 0c7c2a13d2fcd001ab120000141ee007

    I would like to know what is the inflight file and can i empty it?

    From your vague and useless reply, I assume 'InFlight' is some 'secret' storage location that Microsoft doesn't want its users to know about. Is anyone willing to tell is what 'C:\Windows\WinSxS\Temp\InFlight\ REALLY is?
