Serious Listview selected items issue when removing items by doubleclick

This is rather old. Found this years back on Windows 98. Still exists in current Windows 10 WinUI3 Getting the index where the item was moved in a ListVIew :)

(And someone once said the listviews were entirely different in Windows NT and Windows 9x series. Ok, Windows 98 had an issue that on one certain list position, an owner-drawn list get the wrong index for drawing, which I have not encountered on Windows NT series yet)

When removing items from an listview (LISTBOX) within an doubleclick event, this causes immediatelly followed checks to report items to be selected, also they are not. Actually, it seems always to reports all items up to the position of the removed item to be selected

Fixable: By changing the order of the removal and defwindowproc.

Serious: Yes, in case you hit a delete button in an app. As had my App.

    Source and executable here

Clicking the "3" button shows the state (in the window title)

Doubleclicking removes an item. Double click item "7" and click the "3" to check the listview state.

  3. Indexing off and cannot get it back on

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your response.

We appreciate the time and effort that you have invested in to fix the issue. I would suggest that you return the settings back to
Local System Account from This Account under
    Log on
tab and perform the steps below.

    • Rebuild the Windows Search Index and check. Refer to these steps. This can be used if you are able to go through the
      Indexing Options in Control Panel.
    • On the search bar type Indexing Options and click on it.
    • Click the Advanced button at the bottom of the
Indexing Options window. This displays a new window titled Advanced Options.
    • Click the Index Settings tab if it isn’t selected already.
    • Click the Rebuild button to delete and rebuild the file index.
    • Click OK to confirm.

    Hope this helps

WinUI3 Getting the index where the item was moved in a ListVIew

Indexing & number of items indexed. Is this normal ?

Hi, not sure what you're experiencing.
What appears odd in your video is that opening and closing a file appears to cause the number of items indexed to increment.
    That should not be so.

Hazarding a guess, I'd suggest it's something to do with having changed the defaults related to 'User' in Indexing options. You could be indexing temporary files unnecessarily.

    Compare:

I would suggest you need to reset your Indexing Options to default and rebuild the index.

The first of these is NOT obvious. Try
