Windows 10: WinXP defragmenter gets stuck

Hello! I have an old Compaq TC-1100 tablet computer running Windows XP SP3. It's painfully slow somewhat slow in Safe Mode and I'm doing what I can so speed it up. I want to try using Disk Defragmenter, However, whenever I use it, it gets stuck saying "1% Compacting Files" and I don't think it's doing anything. I ran CHKDSK, and this is what I get:29301728 KB in disk space.13429224 KB in 40258 files.17840 KB in 5391 indexes.0 KB in bad sectors.156116 KB in s by the system.65536 KB occupied by the log file.4096 bytes in each allocation unit.7325432 total allocation units on disk.3924637 alloc

I will help you out with the queries regarding disk defragmentation.

Defragmentation will work even if the computer goes to sleep mode.

However, if you face any issue, you can change the sleep mode time.

Follow the steps below:

• Type "power options" in start menu and select Power options.
• Select "Change plan settings" next to "Balanced".
• Change the time for sleep mode.

And, if you interrupt the defragmentation in between, the defragmentation will start from first when you perform again.

Defragmentation stuck at 4%

I made a defragmentation on a 15% fragged disk, and when it’s done it’s stuck on 4%. There were no error notifications or anything. I tried to defrag it again and it’s still stuck on 4%.
