  1. Wired network all pc see each other in network but 1 win7 does not connect to a win10

an interesting puzzle. I have a network on the 192.168.1.x range with all devices having a fised IP. ALL devices can see each other and connect to shares and all are windows 7 professional.

I have just bought a dell win10 laptop and it showed on network and could be shared. I then had to reinstall win10 to get rid of dell junk and upgrade to win 10 pro. Again all worked well.

The next day JUST ONE windows machine had problems. The DELL was showing in the network, the workgroup was the same OFFICE but everytime I tried to connect came up with the usual "network path not found" message. Tried from all other win7 machines both 32 an 64 bit and all found DELL and could access the shares!!! Many reboots, another win 10 install, removal of all firewalls whilst taken off the internet - still no change. Cleared the master browser from the machine with the problem - no change. Cleared the protocol stack - no change. Reset HOSTS and other networking stuff, checked master browser had moved to an always on machine. Still the same issue. Reset all group policies to default and re-enabled all the disabled services on the win 7 - no change.

Last attempt was chqanging the DELL name to others, using lower and upper case, even changing workgroup - still the same!

Oh, also tried with the IP \\192.168.1.dell and same error, but can ping the machine easliy.

I am an IT professional yes and I love win 7 locked down properly and this baffles me. Most of the Win7 machines were cloned from a master before licensing so all have the same set up. I just do not figure why this one machine gives the errors. Need to sort as this machine runs Goodsync to keep all machines in sync so needs the share.

    Thanks if you can help!!!!

    :)

  2. Losing network connection

Hello Dear, if you have a laptop or a PC with a wireless network adapter, you can see a list of available wireless networks and then connect to one of those networks. The wireless networks will only appear if your PC has a wireless network adapter installed, the adapter is turned on, and the wireless access point is in range.

    1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Network Connections.

    2. In the left pane, under Network Tasks, click View available wireless networks.
In case, If you don't see the network you want to connect to, click Refresh network list. If you see the network but the signal is weak, move the PC closer to the wireless router.

    3. Click the network you want to connect to, and then click Connect.

    4. If you're connecting to a secure network, type the security key, and then click OK.

I Hope you solve out your query soon.

  3. Help needed with simple wired network

Step one- Connect all PC's to router, and then the router to the modem. PC's go to router by the ports labeled "1-4" on the back of the router. WAN port goes to router. Power up all network equipment, and then systems.
Step two- Power on the computer connected to port one. Go into router settings at 192.168.0.1 and configure internet, dyndns, firewall, etc.
Step three- Go to "network set up wizard" in windows. (Network places- network set up wizard). The rest is self explanatory.
Step four- right click on each drive and printer you want to share, and then configure sharing preferences. Should be easy enough.
Step five- right click my computer, and the select "map network drive". Using the network address for each piece of hardware you shared, assign network drive letters.

Congratulations, you have a fully operational network. Happy Gaming! *Toast :toast:
