Windows 10: Wired to wireless internet using dongles

Somewhere our phones do not have any data plan . That place has a desktop with internet connection . No wifi card builtin and since*It is an ALL in one computer we cannot install pci* wifi card. We can only have wifi adapter or dongles on a usb port.

How safe is to create a hotspot using a dongle . If i use vpn over wifi to connect to the company's network , is there any chance of vulnerability ?*

Also , keep in mind the wired internet is LAN based and the company is reluctant a bit that using dongle will expose the network to sniffers.

Can they hack through the adhoc network created by the dongle into my our LAN* ?*

Please provide suggestions.

Wireless laptop - wired desktop - internet

I'd recommend a wireless router. Plug the desktop into the router via wired cable. Plug your Internet device into the router. And then the laptop will have wireless Internet access.

Most desktops have wired integrated. Most laptops have wireless integrated. All you should need is a router and maybe some cables. Wireless routers start around $50 USD.

 

Dongle is working properly but showing no internet

usb wireless dongle.

Hi all, I recently had my daughters desktop down to clean and format all went well until I tried to connect to the internet, it will only connect through the cable I tried the usb wireless dongle I have but it couldn't find the drivers so I left it thinking when she pluged In her usb wireless dongle it would find it but she is getting the same message, would it be better to get her a wireless card, she has BT fibre up to 40mbps, if so any sugestions.
