  2. Windows 10 Wireless Adapter problems / Compatible Wireless adapters

I upgraded to Windows 10 in August and had no problems with my wireless adapter (WNDA4100) until recently. This weekend it started displaying "limited" connectivity and no website or function using the internet would work. My router (Onhub) shows that
my computer is connected to the internet and that there should not be any issues. I looked through Netgear forums, to no avail, and bought a new wireless adapter (Netgear A6210, terrible mistake) this one wouldn't even register as a device. Finally, I returned
that adapter and tried a linksys. It has similar problems as my original router and the linksys support rep I spoke with said the device (WUSB6300) was incompatible / doesn't support Windows 10. Currently, with the linksys adapter my computer shows that
it is connected to the internet but still no websites or online games (etc.) will open.

Is there a reason my original adapter suddenly stopped working?

Is there a way to solve this issue with my current adapter? I have tried multiple methods from different posts, but none of the initial problems seemed quite the same as my circumstances.

    • CMD prompt methods I attempted failed
    • Device Manager driver updates failed. Uninstall/reinstall failed.
    • Troubleshooting methods failed.
Finally, if there is no way to solve the connectivity issue with my current adapter, is there a list of Windows 10 compatible wireless adapters or devices? My PC is separated from my modem / router by a few rooms so I can't just connect via ethernet. (my
apartment seems to be wired for ethernet but I have been unable to get a connection that way as well).

  3. Wireless USB adapters compatible with Windows 10

    Hi Virgil,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I suggest you to run the troubleshooter provided in the below Microsoft article and then try to install the network adapter driver.

Computer that has VPN software installed can't detect wireless network after upgrading to Windows 10

    • Press Windows and X
key together and select Device Manager.

    • Locate the Network adapter icon. Right click on the driver icon.

    • Select Update driver software.

    • Select "browse my computer for a driver software".

    • Select “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer”.

    • Select the driver option according your device model and installed.

    • If this does not work, follow the steps from ‘1 to ‘3 and select “Search automatically for the updated driver”.

    • Choose the same steps to update the driver for keyboard as well.

If issue still persists, I would suggest you to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if it works.

Follow the steps provided below to install the drivers in compatibility mode:

    • Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘properties’.

    • Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select Windows operating system from the drop down.

    • Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.
    Hope it helps.

    Thanks.

Windows 10 Wireless Adapter problems / Compatible Wireless adapters

After trying to resolve this issue with multiple adapters I restored windows 10. The last adapter i bought was a tp-link that was listed as compatible on their website, but still had all the same problems. Luckily i didn't have too much info to lose in
thge process, and backups of vital stuff helps. After windows recovery, i have not had a problem.
