    Wireless Connection Issue

    Hello,

Here's the layout. I have a desktop in the living room, a desktop in the bedroom, and an iPhone. I have a wireless connection throughout my home. A few weeks ago, some workers came over to install hardwood floors in my living room. They unplugged the phone cable, router, and PC that was in the living room. Since then, I'm not able to access the internet on the PC in the living room and also on my iPhone. I'm still able to access the internet in my bedroom. Here's what I have done so far:

    - reset the router
    - malware/spyware scans
    - checked the antivirus firewall to see if it was blocking the connection (it wasn't)
    - checked to see if I needed to update firmware in the router (didn't need updating)

When the living room PC boots, the wireless icon (taskbar) looks like there's a connection. When I open up the browser, no connection. The only way I can access the internet on my iPhone is to disable the wireless. It seems like when I turn on the wireless, it acts like a wall to the connection to the living room PC and my phone.

    Please help.

    Craig

    :)

    wireless connection issue

Hey Nova469, Welcome to the Nokia Forums!

Would it be possible to find out the model of your router? also the model of your phone?

The connection fails, when you try connecting a phone capable of 802.11b/g to a single radio WLAN access point where a 802.11n connection is already active.

A solution for this situation would be to use a multiradio access point or disable 802.11n mode on the access point.

The software configuration for an access point is usually done via a Web interface. To get to the configuration page for the access point, you need to know the access point's IP address of your router. Then, you just type that address into the address bar of
a browser from any computer on the network.

Once you access your configuration page for your router, you can disable the access point for the 802.11n access point.

Enable/Disable: Enables or disables the device's wireless access point functions.

From here you can disable the 802.11n access point, and hopefully your phone should be up and running! Remember to reset your router after changing the configurations!

Please let me know if it works! If it doesn’t work, go back and revert all the settings you changed back to how they originally where and we can try something else..

You're showing a wired connection here. Can you show the results with the wire unplugged, please? Hard to diagnose wireless issues without information about the wireless connection/interface, and so forth (which is absent from this screencapture). Thanks,

Indeed, no wireless NIC is showing up on your system. Please tell us the make/model of your PC motherboard so we can look up the device(s) that SHOULD be installed but are currently missing. It may make sense to grab the necessary drivers from the mfgr (if available) and then to perform a manual driver installation. Tell us more about what you're running, and we'll tell you more about what you need to try next.
    HTH,
