Windows 10: Wireless headphones connecting to laptop but sound still coming via speakers despite...

A couple of days ago, I paired my new wireless headphones to my laptop and everything worked as expected, the sound came via my headphones no problem. Yesterday, I connected my headphones again, but the sound continued to come via the laptop speakers instead, I've searched a few previous issues such as this and have tried: simply restarting the laptop, unpairing and repairing the device then restarting.The laptop connects to the headphones via Bluetooth with no issue, and I can see that it is connected on the Bluetooth settings. Wireless headphones show as connetced but have no sound

My wireless headphones show as connected and are listed under bluetooth in device manager, but the sound will not come through the headphones, only the computer speakers. Also, the headphones are not listed under playback devices.Wireless

Are you connecting the headphones with a wired or wireless connection? For example: Wired connection. Note setting show speaker. Audio output automatically switches to headphones when they are plugged in.



Wireless. Same headphones connected using Bluetooth. Check output is headphones in audio settings.

 

sound coming out of headphones and not speakers.

I recently bought Bluetooth headphones, and they worked just fine as did everything. yesterday, seemingly spontaneously, I couldn't get sound to come out of my laptop's speakers. I have three sound devices, speakers, headphones, and headphones hands free audio. The interesting thing is that all three of them play through the headphones. If i disconnect the headphones by powering them off, there is only one sound device, the speakers and when I select it, no sound comes out, as if the computer is trying to play through the headphones which are off. I've tries looking on the internet for other people with the same problem, but all the questions are the other way around, can't get sound to come out of the headphones.
