Windows 10: Wireless keyboard going to sleep, maybe?

I really don't know. My first wireless keyboard. I have the receiver plugged into the front USB 3 port (there are no USB 2 ports anywhere on this case) as it doesn't work when plugged into the back. It works most times but sometimes I'll start typing and nothing, nothing, nothing, several seconds later ZOOM! all the letters I typed, minus the first letter, will suddenly appear on the screen. It's really starting to annoy the heck out of me. >.< This is a combo Logitech K520 with unifying receiver. The Unifying software says Battery Status is Good, and I did install the Setpoint software too. So I am at a total loss on what could be causing this issue.

System wont wake up if using a Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 3000

The system is an ASUS B85M-G motherboard and works fine with a standard USB Mouse and Keyboard.

On plugging in the wireless keyboard the system does not properly go into sleep mode i.e. Power Light does not blink and then the system can not be brought out of sleep mode.

 

Wireless Comfort Keyboard 5000 not working after Docking

I did the install of the updated Mouse and Keyboard Center 2.7. It still continues to behave the same. I put the computer to sleep. Undock it. Then unsleep it then work with the laptop undocked using the keyboard and trackpad on the laptop. Then I sleep
the laptop. Dock the laptop. Wake the laptop using the Power button on the dock. The MS Desktop 5000 is unresponsive. I am not able to do a control-alt-delete to get to my login screen.

I have to go to the laptop and use the laptop keyboard and trackpad to log in. But still the laptop does not recognize the keyboard.

When looking at the device manager, the device does not appear as "Microsoft USB Dual Receiver Wireless Keyboard". It appears as "Microsoft Wireless Transmitter Version 2.7".

 

Have a look in the device manager for the keyboard, select properties, couple check boxes in the power management tab, take out the check for allow this device to sleep to save power.

 

Let me see... Only two check marks for "Logitech HID-compliant Unifying keyboard" , Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. is unchecked and grayed out , Allow this device to wake the computer is checked.

 

Check Power saving options for USB ports too. If they shut down so will KB and than you can't wake it up from KB.

 

Ok, unchecked those options for all three USB Root HUB (xHCI), the only three that have power options in the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" subsection of the Device Manager. And nope, still is a problem. So much so I am using a wired keyboard right now, it works 1000 times better.

 

It may be a weak signal, try using an USB cable to put the receiver in clear view of the mouse and
keyboard

 

It's literally 3 feet from the keyboard and mouse. I can reach out, with out stretching, and touch the receiver. I'll have to go buy an extension cable to test that but with it being so close, well, the only thing in between, and it has to be there due to the cabling coming out of the wall, is the cable modem router wifi VOIP AIO box from the cable company. But I doubt that has anything to do with it. Batteries test green on an actual battery tester, the Unifyer software shows Battery Status: Good... Though if I have to run a cable down next to the keyboard to make it work that defeats the purpose of a wireless keyboard, I can use the same cable to run a wired keyboard too.

 

There is much discussion about Logitech lag, not just with the K520

I had exactly the same issue with a Logitech K350 but the paired mouse a M510 worked as expected.

Tried new drivers and contacting tech support who only recommend installing Setpoint software to ensure the correct and latest drivers were installed.
To remove USB port issues, had a wireless Microsoft keyboard to hand and this worked perfectly which to me leads to a driver issue with Logitech and other divers.

It was most annoying to experience such lag.

In a last ditch attempt, I reinstalled Windows 10 on a spare SSD and the problem was not seen again.

I'm not saying reinstall windows for a driver issue, nor that this would definitely solve your issue, but until the Logitech, Microsoft or any another 3rd party driver is identified as the issue and fixed, I found this to be my only resolve.

Not helpful really, just my plight along with many others.

 

I see your point:
I got the cable hanging from my lamp, at least it's not on the desk and one USB port used instead of two so it may be worth a try,
the fact that you say it does not work on the back means the probably the wireless signal is weak ...

BTW i'm using a trust wireless keyboard + mouse, does not work well if the transreceiver is not
in clear sight of them (circa 30 cm = 1 Feet)

Ok, solved it by returning the keyboard and mouse, will need to research to find a keyboard and mouse, wireless, that is hardened against interference from the 2.4ghz Wifi and the USB3 ports that Logitech, in the link above, says are issues.
