Wireless Network Connection says wifi is turned off, and options are turn on manually...

Goofed up somewhere trying to get two laptops to connect via the wifi, allowing shared files. Now the older laptop connects to wifi, the second can't find the wifi. Opening the settings, and clicking on Wi-Fi indicates that the Connection is off, when I click on the On button, it stays on for a few minutes, but doesn't connect to the internet.

I noticed that Airplane mode is turned off, but the wireless device connection to turn on wifi is greyed out, and I can't turn it on.

    Any suggestion?

    :)

Windows 10 wifi not turning on Acer Aspire laptop

In order to get the list of available wireless networks, you have to:

    1. Switch on Connect to suggested open hotspots (see the screenshot in question);
    2. Click on Wifi icon in the right corner. Now you have your networks back.

After that the parameter from Step 1 can be turned off, networks will be listed normally after restarting Wifi.

P.S. I feel rather stupid at the moment. I thought that open hotspots are passwordless hotspots and so are presumably not very safe. So of course I've turned that off during installation.
Really hard to see any logic in this case.

  3. Wifi turns off automatically when a device is connected to my hotspot

Whenever a device is connected to my hotspot the wifi is turning off automatically thereby stopping the hotspot.

To turn the Windows 10 hotspot on, in first step I have turned on the Wireless Network Connection as shown in the below image.

After that I did following steps in Command Prompt(Admin) for hotspot
    1. netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=MyWiFi key=mypassword
    2. netsh wlan start hostednetwork

In netsh wlan show hostednetwork command, it shows the hotspot had started successfully as shown in the below image.

But whenever a device is connected to this hotspot the wifi is turning off automatically thereby stopping the hotspot.

I have unchecked the Power management option i.e, Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
All driver are updated to the latest versions.

    Please help

    wireless capability is turned off

I am only speculating as i don`t know what type of Setup ( External Modem / Router you have and if its Wireless capable ).

As to your Computers WiFi Modem.

You should see a Network Access Icon in the bottom Right Hand Side of you Task Bar. on your screen.

Hover your Mouse over it or Right Click on it to see what options you are given.

It should show a list of Networks Available.

In this list it should show the External Modem / Router what you are trying to connect to. ( Make sure its WiFi is Enabled or it wont show up in the list ).

If it is in the list select it and click Connect.

You may be asked for some other details such as WiFi Password or MAC Address or some form of Identifier which is usually supplied with External Modem / Router which you may have to enter manually to connect the two.

The external Modem / Router that you are trying to connect to usually come with a small Card with the WiFi Details such as WiFi Name / Provider / WiFi Password and some other documentation on connections.

    Not sure if this helps.
