  1. Wireless Router Recommendations

We have cable internet and will most likely switch to verizon fios. I'm not in this location though at the moment. Now the past month or so, the wifi sometimes doesn't work for a bit, then it works. Its a 2 story house and we leave the router and the modem in the 2nd floor because that is where we use to mainly use internet so we had it installed there. Now the wifi doesn't seem to be that strong in the 1st floor... and the basement. But there is also some wifi issues on the 2nd floor as well. Wireless router is netgear n600 and bought years ago. There was never much of an issue with it. If it matters the speed plan we get with our internet cable is 100mbps. Is it possible that our internet has wifi issues because the router has gotten too old so to speak? Now when we switch to verizon fios, which wireless router would you recommend we buy? Apparently i read verizon fios is 300mbps speed... and the netgear n600 router is only max 100mbps speed while ethernet wired... can anyone confirm this? So we need a router that has mbps of at least 300mbps if we want the full verizon fios speed right? I seen two routers on amazon that seem to have very good reviews. TP Link https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079JD7F7G/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 Netgear https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00R2AZLD2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 Thing that confuses me here is it says up to certain mbps on 2.4ghz and it can get a higher mbps on 5 ghz. But aren't routers in general almost ways set default 2.4 ghz? I don't think i ever made any changes to router with ghz but would any of these 2 routers be good enough? Someone mentioned my netgear n600 router is way too old and slow as its max 100mbps and probably like 90mbps when on wifi... so using Verizon Fios 300mbps plan... we won't even get 300mbps since our router is too old and slow. Thanks.

    :)

  3. wireless router recommendations?

Looking for some input on wireless routers, something decent, but not super expensive. Something in the $50 range, Wireless-G or N will work.

Needs to have good signal strength (my PS3 is hooked up across the house from where the router is, about 75' away) and hopefully last longer then 8 months like my last two routers have.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
