    Wireless Xbox 360 controller causes open windows to repeatedly black out and freeze


    I have a genuine Microsoft Xbox 360 wireless controller receiver not an off-brand knock-off connected to my Windows 10 PC. When the controller connects, within a few seconds the desktop and all windows open will repeatedly black out, and their contents will be frozen when not black, making everything unusable until I restart. I used these same two devices together on the same computer without issue back in September of 2020, so my guess is that something within a Windows update between then and now must have broken it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers for the controller receiver and it didn't help. Any suggestions to get them working again would be appreciated.
