    Wirelessly Signal Completely Stops

    I have a NetGear C3000 just recently bought. Cable Modem/Router Combo. I have Windows 10. I'm so frustrated right now. I go to load up a game and all of the sudden the wirelessly signal completely stops...meaning no devices in the entire house can get wireless. I have to turn off the box unplug/plug turn on and let it go threw the lengthy process of booting back up only to have to repeat the problem not even a minute later when loading up the same game. Factory reset the router just in case it was a setting and no still doing it.

    Called my ISP they said the internet is fine, called NetGear...couldn't understand much on the phone call...had me go here there change this number that number never explain why. (that was yesterday) today same problem.

    Light internet usage it seems fine. Opening a game and waiting for game to load in...wirelessly completely stops...don't know what to do I'm loosing my mind.

    2 event log messages that I seem to be constantly getting.
    1970-1-1, 00:00:31 Critical (3) SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Failed to acquire QAM/QPSK symbol timing;;CM-MAC=9c:3d:cf:9e:32:98;CMTS-MAC=00:00:00:00:00:00;CM-QOS=1.0;CM-VER=3.0; 1970-1-1, 00:00:39 Critical (3) No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out;CM-MAC=9c:3d:cf:9e:32:98;CMTS-MAC=00:01:5c:65:fa:54;CM-QOS=1.0;CM-VER=3.0;

    ISP always suggest what if you plugged directly into the modem...Ok I'm tired of hearing this...of course if I plug in it's going to work fine I don't want it to work plugged in I want it to work like it should! Wirelessly

    :)

  3. 5230 as modem for a Mac

    @GB58 - IT TURNS YOUR PHONE INTO A WIFI HOTSPOT. Meaning your phone releases wifi signals so your PC can connect to the internet through it wirelessly.

    Personally the Netgear units suck at wireless. You are best to get an Access Point for better wireless coverage. The Engenius ECB350 is under $70 and has enough signal power that it will cover the whole house.

    Have you tried this solution? Solved: Fast LAN speed/slow WiFi speeds - NETGEAR Communities

    But that is just a router? Then I would have to get a cable modem too...

    You already have a Cable Modem. The Access Point allows you to place it anywhere with the POE (Power Over Ethernet) unit. You can even shut off the wireless on the unit you have, since it would still do Ethernet. The range on the Engenius is about 150 feet.

    Actually I'm returning the modem/router combo back to the store...There is something wrong with it I don't know but I'm tired of messing with it. The whole point was to not have to pay modem rental fees to the ISP. I've already spent $74 on that and was hoping to spend $100 or less on a modem router.

    Wirelessly Signal Completely Stops

    Netgear poorly designed the wifi antenna and the chip overheats. My inlaws have the DSL version and the wireless is so bad, that you cannot pick it up 20 feet away.

    I would stay with just a modem and if you do not need Ethernet, the Engenius ECB350 will act as a Wireless router only. If you need Ethernet, get a good wired Gateway and then add the Access Point on top. I had to go that route when I rebuilt my network from the ground up. It also allows you to swap out one piece of gear, not a whole all-in-one.

    Stay away from the Ubiquiti stuff. Ubiquiti has not been pushing out firmware updates on any of their equipment to fix security issues. The TP-Link wired routers in the Commercial side on Newegg are good. You want a wired router that will handle up to 1gig. That is because for one, if your provider starts pushing one gig service, you are already ready. Two, it allows multiple devices to be able to use the outbound side, without causing the router to choke and cause devices to become degraded in speeds.

    I spent a lot of hours on smallnetbuilder.com in researching the wired gateway and access point. Yes the wired router I have costs a bit more. It is also able to do stuff that the lower end stuff cannot do, such as having 3g/4g cellular fallover.
