Windows 10: Wlan AutoConfig service Errors 999/1069/1297

Hey, I'm having trouble using my desktop to connect to my WiFi.


I've narrowed it down to the WLAN AutoConfig service (won't start) I've tried changing the account it logs in as to the Admin on my PC but I get Error 1069 "The service did not start due to login failure" as well as my personal account, (which is also an Admin) and get error 1297 "A privilege that the service requires to function properly does not exist in the service account configuration...." Following the 1297, I tried looking for secpol.msc like it suggested, and also gpedit.msc to change that so that I could fix the error. But I don't have those because I purchased Windows 10 Home. I'm positive it's not my wireless adaptor because I tested it on several other computers connecting to the same network and had no issues. I'm honestly stuck. I tried calling tech support also, three times. It accomplished nothing. The last time, I waited roughly 15-20 minutes before they hung up on me.

Windows could not start the WLAN AutoConfig service on Local Computer


I need some help to get my wireless connection to work again.

• After recent Windows 10 Update, my wireless connection no longer works. I've done some troubleshooting and I have ruled out my ISP, cable modem, and router, leaving the issue to be something within the computer (Dell laptop - Inspiron 7537).
• The wired connection works fine
• When I run Windows Network Diagnosis, it tells me that the Windows Wireless Service is not running (see attached pdf report)
• When I try to manually start the WLANSVC service, i get an error message that says "Windows could not start the WLAN AutoConfig service on Local Computer Error 193:0xc1" (see attached)
• When I try to manually start the WLANSVC service from the command prompt (as Admin) I get a slightly different message that says "The WLAN AutoConfig service is starting. The WLAN AutoConfig service could not be started. A system error has occurred. System error 193 has occurred. *** is not a valid Win32 application." (see attached)
• I've downloaded the latest Intell PROset Wireless drivers from Dell (V18.20.0.9) for the Wireless-N 7260 wireless network adapter and have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. This didn't help.
• I've attached some screenshots and a pdf copy of the Windows Network Diagnostics report.

No networks showing up

Hi Jack,

Error 1069: The service did not start due to a logon failure
happens when your account credentials for WLAN AutoConfig service
is incorrect. To troubleshoot this, we recommend removing and re-adding your password in WLAN AutoConfig service. To do so, follow these steps:

• Go to Services>WLAN AutoConfig>Properties.
• Under the Log On tab, remove your password.
• Re-add your password.
• Save the changes and exit the open window.

Regarding your BSOD issue, are you still encountering the Blue Screen? If yes, may we know the error message?

Windows WLAN Service: Regular ping spikes on a stable WLAN connection

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

First Verify if the WLAN service is started and set to automatic, if the WLAN service is stopped, I would suggest you to start the service and put it to automatic.

Step 1: Please follow the steps to
start the WLAN service.

• 
  Click on Start, type in services.msc
  and press Enter.
  
• 
  Select WLAN Autoconfig from the list, Right click properties
  
• 
  Change the startup type to Automatic.
  
• 
  Click on Start button.
  
• 
  Click on Apply, Ok.
  

Restart the computer and verify if it works.

Also check if all the dependencies are also running. Try the steps to check Dependencies.

• 
  Right-click on WLAN Autoconfig and select Properties.
  
• 
  Click on Dependencies, you will find all the dependency services under box labeled this service depends on the following system components.
  

Step 2: If still you are facing issues, then
uninstall and reinstall the drivers

• 
  Click start.
  
• 
  Type devmgmt.msc in Start
  Search.
  
• 
  In Network adapter you will find the device, right click on it and select the option
  uninstall.
  
• 
  Restart the computer and check reinstalling the drivers.
