Windows 10: WMA files no longer playing

Discus and support WMA files no longer playing in Windows 10 Network and Sharing to solve the problem; Hi there - not sure why but I had some music files on my PC which have recently stopped playing!     WMA files no longer playing


    Hi there - not sure why but I had some music files on my PC which have recently stopped playing! These used to play in Windows Media Player and Groove Music. Any suggestions please? Simple instruction's would be fab :-

    wma files not playing anymore with WMP version 12

    I've done the trouble shooting before and did it again just now and again no problem there.

    I've also done using headphones before and did it again just now and again wma files NOT playing .

    I guess I didn't myself clear. WMA files are NOT playing. MP3 files are OK. MP3 files are playing properly.

    Let's do more steps to address this your concern.

    • Can you also right click the sound icon on the lower left of your desktop and click
      Troubleshoot sound problem?

    If that didn't work, kindly do the steps below:

    • Connect your headphones to your computer and on the Playback tab click
      Headphones and click Set Default, try playing the wma files again. Is it playing properly?
    • Go to the Playback tab again , then click on Speakers
      and click Set Default.
    • Can you also try to play a different file type like MP3?

    wma files won't play

    Personally, I still use Creative MediaSource 5 to organise my music, but Winamp to play it. By the way, Creative MediaSource 5 already comes with an audio converter which handles .wma to .mp3, amongst others,
    and that's still working on my Windows 10 PC even though it will no longer play the .wma files.
