  2. WmiApRpl Folder in INF File of Windows 10 (Need Help)

    hi, in my Local Disk > Windows > INF pathway, I have this folder which was apparently created and modified today (around the time I logged onto the PC)

    can anyone please tell me if this is a legitimate folder, and contains legitimate files? and yes, I have indeed scanned the PC with Windows Defender Full Scan and Malware Bytes; I've also scanned each individual file in this folder with both programs, with no flags. one thing that does stand out is that, often on the first scan, if I scan one of the WmiApRpl files with Windows Defender, it will say "2 files scanned, which it did for both of the files.

    I have also checked my laptop, which runs under 2 different user accounts; they both have the WmiApRpl folders in the INF pathway as well, containing all the files including the 0009 folder and second WmiApRpl file. however, they were not created today. one was created back in May, and the other was created on the 4th of September.

    running Windows Defender on both accounts of the laptop, they also say "2 files scanned" when scanning 1 of the WmiApRpl files, so that doesn't seem like something specific to my PC. it also "5 files scanned" if I run the antivirus on the entire folder, so that adds up

    again, can anyone clarify whether or not these files are legitimate, in a legitimate location, and why the folder was created today on my PC, yet on my laptop it was created back in May for 1 user, and a few days ago for the other? it's not like I've really done anything with apps

    it is around 61.4kb in size, but 68kb on disk, and contains these files:

    when I click the 0009 folder, it contains this, another WmiApRpl file;

    WmiApRpl Folder in INF File of Windows 10 (Need Help)

    Hello ! I'm Aymeric, and I'm here to help !

    This WmiApRpl folder is legitimate and required for Windows to work properly.

    I've checked on my own PC and I do have the same folder as you have.

    WMI is used to manage and give information about the status of Windows PC on a local network.

    I wouldn't be able to answer you for the creation date of the folder, however. Sometimes, folders are recreated when you log in, when you install a Windows Update.. It varies.

    Feel free to ask if you have any other question !

    The open procedure for service miApRpl, MSDTC, LSA, ESENT, BITS...

    I'm occasionally getting this as well. I also see the suggestions to add permissions to WSS_WPG to the registry keys, but if I try to add WSS_WPG and click "Check Names" it doesn't find it.

    Here's an example of somewhere that suggests that fix:
