Windows 10: WMP 12 has developed a delay playing files

    WMP 12 has developed a delay playing files


    I've had my system up for a good year or more. Win Media player 12 always played songs instantly. I believe since the last Win 10 update it takes upwards of 10 seconds to start playing any song. That makes the end of every song past the end of the app window as well. No other issues, but I have gone so far as to try deleting the LocalAppData folder and letting WMP rebuild everything, to no avail. Does anyone have a solution to this? Please and thanks much, Shep

    Unable to play MPEG2 HD1080 60p files with Windows Media Player 12

    My WMP 12 can handle the MPEG2 HD720 60p files, but is unable to play MPEG2 HD1080 60p files. Do I need a different codec, or is there a fix for this problem. I was able to fix similar problem with the VLC player by increasing the file caching to 1500
    ms. Can this be done with the WMP 12?

    WMP 12 on WIN 10 - Won't Play MPG, MP4 - How to Fix?

    Microsoft has taken the ability of WMP 12 to play DVD's for commercial gain. It can play most media but not DVD.

    K-lite do an excellent codec pack and VLC Player can play DVD.

    Failing that, you can revert to going back to Windows 7 and the awesome WMP 11.

    It's a shame that Microsoft are profit driven and not customer caring.

    Is your library huge? When you open the player does it show "Updating..." in the lower right? If so that may be the issue. Leave it open for a while to let it finish "updating".
