    WMP 12 (WIN 10) - Won't Play MP4 - How to Fix?


    1) So ... Problem/Issue is Ongoing (Not resolved)

    2) Most relevant Post (years old) is - of course - Locked!?!

    3) No apparent meaningful/useful response from or effort by M$ engineers [sic] or "experts"

    4) Windows continues to claim WMP-12 is able to play MP4 ... but actually FAILS!

    5) ARRGGGGH!

    WMP 12 on WIN 10 - Won't Play MPG, MP4 - How to Fix?

    WMP 12 on WIN 10 will not open and play MPG or MP4 videos and who know what else? The file flashes to open (you see a second of the video) then I get the error message shown below. The WEB Help for this suggests it a Sound Driver Issue at this link http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/c00d11b1.
    I checked here there is no issue with my drivers being disabled and all drivers are current. I've tried all kinds of CODECS and none work. I even converted a video to MP4 using Wondershare Video Converter and it still won't play. It should also be noted
    that Windows Movies & TV do not open these files either.

    What is the fix?

    The files are NOT CORRUPT as Real Player Opens them and plays them w/o issue. Come on Microsoft - get this fixed or stop advertising that WMP 12 plays files types it clearly does not. By the way I posted this because all other threads
    seemed to be years old.

    WMP 12 in Windows 10

    I have recently upgraded to Windows 10, but my music library is empty in WMP 12. I have deleted the library database, changed music locations and added into "organize" and still no listing in the library. Can anyone suggest how I can get my library back
    and hence play music in WMP 12?

    Cant play mp4 videos using WMP. Version 12.

    Cant play mp4 videos using Windows Media Player. Version 12. Was working great then windows did a update and all mp4 videos stopped playing. Keeps giving me the Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might
    not support the codec that was used to compress the file.

    I have reinstalled Windows media player, Tried installing WMP codecs and still wont play mp4 videos. The video starts then i get the error.
