Windows 10: Wndows DVD player app purchase in n/s store

I purchased this app in July 2021 in order to use the external DVD drive I purchased for my laptop. I worked intermittently, but now I cannot make it work at all. When I plug it in the M/S Store comes up. When I insert a disc or press play in the App it says it's loading, but then a message appears saying "Something went wrong -please try again or restart the app. Sorry - not sure what happened there"

Windows DVD Player from App Store Not Playing U.S. Standard DVD's

So I read that upgrading from Window 7 to Windows 10 strips a bunch of CODEC's that Windows Media Player use to have. From what I understand this has to be purchased now in the Windows Apps Store for ~ USD 15. So I went ahead and did it and the app still
does not play DVD's. Here are my steps and errors:

• Load my DVD (original DVD, not copied) into my DVD tray
• Double click on This PC
• Find my DVD drive and right click on it, select Auto Play
• Select Windows DVD Player (the one I purchased for $15 from the app store)
• DVD Player App launches and errors out with: "Error: Video could not be decoded"

This is not display driver issue because VLC Player works just fine (the audio codec's don't work correct though).

• If this App is simply too buggy, can someone tell me how to get a refund?

But the page simply crashes. Any help would be appreciated.

DVD player purchased but will not download and install

Just hung up the phone with Microsoft support. They were able to fix the issue, now I have Windows DVD player installed and can play DVDs successfully.

To resolve the issue follow these steps:

1. Go to Store app in Win 10. You can search for Store in Cortona as well.

2. Go to "my library" in the Store app.

3. Click on your profile picture on top right to find "my library".

4. Find Windows DVD Player in the list of apps in "my library".

5. Try to install Windows DVD Player from "my library".
