Windows 10: Won't detect headphones

I found the other day that when I plug headphones into my audio jack I can't get the sound to play through them. It continues to play sound through my monitor instead regardless of which option I choose. I've determined it can't be the jack because I tried plugging into the jack on the back of my desktop and it still won't detect. The headphones work find because I've tried them in my phone so it must be a software issue. All the advice I find on Google tells me to right click my volume and click "sounds" but that option does not exist for me. Please can somebody help? My headphones were working fine last weekend but since have stopped and I can't figure out why.

No Speakers or Headphones detected

Try method 2, if the issue persist

Method 2: If the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter do not fix
the issue then I would suggest you to uninstall the drivers and reboot the computer to get the updated drivers installed for the headphone. Please follow below mentioned steps:

• Open Control Panel
• Click on Device Manager and select the audio input and output drivers
• Right click on driver that appears after plugging the headphone and click on uninstall
• After uninstalling, unplug the headphone and restart the computer
• Plugging the headphone again and the computer will detect the updates drivers automatically.
  

Now check if the headphones work on the computer or not.
