Windows 10: Word 2000 not responding

As a bit of an anorak, I am running Windows 7 Home Premium, and have stuck with Word 2000 as I'm familiar with it and don't need anything fancier. I dont have Microsoft Office, just Word 2000. Its been fine for a decade, but it suddenly stopped responding. I tried unistall/reinstall route but had the same problem. Repair option does not help either.I suspect that I triggered the problem by attempting to paste some text into Word 2000 before it had fully opened. This caused the program to freeze and I had to do an ALT/CTR/Delete to exit the program. When I restarted Word, I got the message not

Could you please give me step by step instructions, in laymans language, on how I do this as whatever it is I'm doing doesn't seem to solve the situation.

I still can't save my documents to "My Documents" in Word 2000, although I can save them to "Desktop".

Again I am running Windows 7 and iE11.

We would appreciate if you tell us about your issue briefly. However, I would also suggest you to follow the steps below and see if it helps:

• Right click on Microsoft Works 2000.
• Click on Properties .
• Go to the Compatibility tab.
• Click on Run this program in compatibility mode and select the previous version which worked fine for you.
