Windows 10: Word 2002 & Compatibility Pack

I am running Windows 10 on an HP Pavilion desktop computer. Iupgraded from Windows 7. I installed Outlook 2013 before that upgrade andwas using Microsoft Word 2002 as my word processing software. Everythingworked fine before the Windows 10 up grade. Now if I try to open a fileattachment in Outlook I get told " This is a pre release version of theCompatibility Pack and can open pre-release Office 2007 files ony. Do youwant to check for a newer version of the Compatibility Pack? When Iclick on "OK" I am sent to a Web page where I get asked if I want todownload and install this new Compatibility Pack....I have done this nowsomething like over 12 times and it does not work. WHAT CAN I DO

And just to add on to Prof Julie's post, if you wanted to open a .docx file on your PC and if your PC has an earlier version of Office installed, you can get the Office Compatibility Pack for your PC.

To open Microsoft Office Word 2007 .docx or .docm files with Microsoft Office Word 2003, Word 2002, or Word 2000, you need to install theMicrosoft
Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats and any necessary Office updates. By using the Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system, you can open, edit some items, and save Office Word 2007 documents in previous
versions of Word.
