Windows 10: Word 2016 not offering previous locations for 'Save As'

I open a Word File. I work on a Word File. I click 'File' -> 'Save as', and I get two choices: 'Documents' or 'Desktop' see image. Nothing else - not the folder from which I'd taken the document I was working on. I used to be able to do this - like, two days ago - but now, no; now I have to go through: File -> Save As -> Documents -> Primary Folder -> Secondary Folder -> Tertiary Folder -> Quaternary Folder -> and so on and so on down the ladder until I reach the folder I have the document in yes, I have documents in fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-level folders.


Is there a way to put this back to how it used to work?

Save As "Previous Locations" box blank in Word and Excel

I asked this in the Word Forum as that is where I discovered the problem, but it was suggested it's a Windows problem. I have no idea what happened, but when I am saving a document using 'save as', the default location shows up in the bar, but when I click
the 'previous location' arrow, the box is blank. (This even though I had saved to locations other than the default file location I chose in Options recently). I then have to click down through the folders to the left. Even after manually selecting a destination
the previous location box will be empty the next time I open Word. (The experience is the same in Excel)

How do I restore it to show previous locations?

 

Word 2016 crashes on save/save as

When I do a save as or save, MS Word 2016, Version 1704 Build 8067.2157 becomes non responsive. No matter what the destination is, usually documents, it just crashes. Task manager to get out of it. Searched for problem on the internet, tried most if not all of the suggestions same result. Tried the Office repair, same problem. Appreciate any suggestions.

UPDATE: Now all programs in office have the same "save to" crash.*Sleepy
