Windows 10: Word Doesn't Open A Fiile in an Idle Window + Status Bar Disappears

Hi, I am using Windows-10 Version 2004 (OS Build 19041-964) and Office-365. Of late, I am having a couple of issues with Word. In the past, when we close a word document, Word Application remains open, call this Idle Window. When I open any Word document, it is used to be opened in the Idle Window. But now, Word creates another Instance and opens this document in that Window, and irritatingly, the Idle Window is getting maximised. And, most of the time status bar disappears. Appreciate any suggestions to overcome these issues. Regards, Saradhi.

Word 2019; Status Bar missing

Is the Status Bar completely missing or is it there but nothing is showing on it?

If it still there you can check its configuration by:

• Right-click on Status Bar
• Customize Status Bar dialog is shown

My copy of Word 2019 has the following Status Bar options selected by default:

• Page Number
• Word Count
• Spelling and Grammar Check
• Language
• Label
• Signatures
• Macro Recording
• Upload Status
• Document Updates Available
• View Shortcuts Available
• Zoom Slider

 

Windows doesn`t start. Authomatic repair doesn`t work.

I`m sorry I had not noticed that the text on the picture was in spanish. It says that windows has replaced some damaged clusters in "name" file and "directory". Then, at the end "an unspecified error occurred (75736e6a726e6c2e 4f6)".

I`ll do it and I`ll be updating this thread when I have the report.

Restore Status Bar at bottom of my Word docs

This should be in Word Options. Click on the File menu and you'll see the link to them there.
- Do check the View menu as well in case the Status bar entry has been moved there.
- I'll have a look through my Word 2016 notes to see if I kept any Options details before I removed it.

Added later - my only note about the Word status bar indicates that it is on by default & that there is no option to turn it off. There was another thread on the subject Word 2019; Status Bar missing - TenForums in which the Word window turned out to have been extending below the screen so the status bar was merely not being seen rather than missing.
