  1. Word duplicates alt-code character when using Japanese keyboard layout

    Similar to many unresolved questions, When I try to type an ANSII code using alt + numpad, first the character appears after releasing alt—as expected—but then when typing another key, the character appears again instead of what I typed:Intended:fuel availability—bothResult:fuel availability——othWhen switching keyboard layouts to US - English United Kingdom, this problem disappears. The alt-code character appears only once, with no altering of subsequent characters.I think the reason it could not be reproduced in other questions might be because the bug only occurs when using certain keyboar

    Switching Japanese Windows with English menus

    Yes, I do mean those keys. I tried just switching to Japanese keyboard, as you suggested, but those keys didn't work. Also, the selection key is normally the spacebar in Japan but I could only get IME to work with the Tab key (for those who aren't familiar with Japanese typing: you type in Roman characters, then press a selection key and it steps you through a list of options for the word you are typing in Japanese characters). Did you get the special keys to work as they do in native Japanese mode?

    It may well be that I was missing something, although I did try every option I could think of. In any event, as I said, I gave in and now have Japanese Windows running with English menus and everything seems to be working perfectly.
    Thanks,

    Mike

    Special characters with Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator

    While I have successfully created layouts with the MKLC utility, my last attempt involved enhancing the keyboard with special characters through the Alt Gr + key combination. I wanted to add characters such as:

    Alt Gr + S: ß

    Alt Gr + <: «

    Alt Gr + >: »

    Alt Gr + :: …
    Alt Gr + N: –

    Alt Gr + M: —

    That works within MKLC when I use its Project | Test Keyboard Layout option, but when I compile the layout, deploy it and select that enhanced keyboard through the Language Bar, those special characters don´t get typed when I key them in any other application.

    Pay careful attention that this is NOT an installation issue, I said "compiled, installed and selected language configuration".

    And now that we are at that...

    • Any plans to update MKLC to require a more recent .NET framework rather than the outdated v3.5?
    • If MKLC is written in C#, is its source code available anywhere to refit it with a more recent .NET framework?
