Windows 10: Word read aloud voices have changed. How to get the male/female choice back?

The word read aloud voices suddenly changed. IT used to give me the male/female "online" voices that sound natural. Now, it gives me david/zira, and they are stiff and unnatural. It keeps asking me to sign in to pick my voice, but I am already signed in, and accessing my files on onedrive.I need this to get work done. Please help.

The article you linked only has one direction to change voices.

There are only two settings in the Read Aloud drop down box. Male and Female. Neither of which I want.

I did follow the links to find the article Fix text-to-speech reading in wrong language. Following the instructions, I did manage to change the accent, but Read Aloud still only provides the Male and Female option. No additional voices.

I want to change the Read Aloud voice in Microsoft Word. The dropdown box only shows Male and Female. I want to use Microsoft David. I do have it set under Time & Language -> Speech.

Changing Voice from male to female

Yep I done it the easy way

If you have an older version say on N95 that had a female voice

browse your backups of memcards I had some old N95 backups card copies not NBUs

open city folder copy female voice to city folder on N96 (You now have male and female)

rename original configxml file to maleconfigxml

copy your old N95 configxml to city folder

then to change voices it is just changing the name of the configxml

eg to change back to male rename the one you are using to femaleconfig and drop the word male off the other

keep both xmls on the N96 and both voice files

you can change in seconds

editing the XML file is longwinded and likely to cause errors there a lot of changes to make

may be Nokia could post an female XMLconfig some where ?? and a female voice folder
