Windows 10: Wordpad and Winword

Wordpad and Winword have stop working, have scanned system for Viruses and Malware with no detections.

Try this :

• Right click Windows Logo (Start Menu)>Select Run> type "notepad" (Without Quote) hit enter
• do the same for 'Wordpad' just type "winword" in Run to open it

trying to create a new document

Creating a new Document is dependent on the application.

If you have Microsoft Word installed:

Press Windows key + R

Type: winword

Hit Enter

Windows 10 includes a bundled word processor called WordPad:

Press Windows key + R

Type: wordpad

Hit Enter

Since these are Windows system files, you might see if running a SFC /SCANNOW command may help.

This got me to thinking [can be dangerous] so checked the latest Notebook I've updated to 10586.218. It has Wordpad but not Winword, probably because it doesn't have Office on it. What's interesting is the hold-over from Windows 3.11 called Write.exe in C:\Windows. Seems it calls Wordpad just as if it were a shortcut, only about 11KB.
