Windows 10: Wordpad in Windows 10/ document color change

I currently have a document stored on my Wordpad app that has a dark orange background with yellowish text color. The original document was written and stored in that file as black text on a white background, the usual for a business document. I have been unable to find the correct way to change the colors on this document and make the black on white a default. For some reason, "page layout" is not appearing in the upper right corner for such changes.

Losing document content on Wordpad

Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand your concern and seems that the text color is changed from black to white.

Please check the below screenshot as we repro the issue on our lab machine.

Screenshot 2: Text color converted to white and not able to see anything in the document but the scroll bar is present.





In this scenario, you need to open the existing 60 page WordPad document and then perform these steps.

1. Click on the document and press
   Ctrl+A key from the keyboard to select the complete text in that document.
   
2. Click on text
   font color and change it to Automatic/black from the ribbon.
   
3. Then save the document.

Changing the taskbar color to white in Windows 10

Hi Michael,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community. Your interest in Windows 10 is much appreciated.

In Windows 10 there is no option for changing the color to white but you can change it to different colors. To change the color of the task bar I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• In the search box, type settings.
• Then select personalization.
• Click on color option on the left side.
• You will find an option called “show color on start, taskbar and start icon”.
• You need to on the option and then you can change the color accordingly.

Wordpad documents being saved to Word

Hi Mike

If RTF documents are opening in Word:

Right click an RTF document, choose 'Open With' - Choose Another App

Important - Check the box marked 'Always use this app to open xxx . . .'

If Wordpad is not in the list, scroll to the bottom and click 'More Apps'

Wordpad should be in that list . . .

Choosing Wordpad form one of those lists will reset the file associations on RTF documents and they should then automatically open in Wordpad . . .
