Windows 10: WordPad to pdf files

do i need to install microsoft word in order to send files in pdf form, or can you convert word pad into pdf form?

can't convert files to pdf

in wordpad go to file print.

from the list of printers select Microsoft Print to PDF

click the print button at the bottom

it will ask for a filename etc, don't include the extension (bit after the dot, eg .pdf) let it do it.

your document will be saved in PDF format (not editable in wordpad)

don't forget to save the wordpad file as well so that you can edit it in the future without having to open the PDF file.

for info - Acrobat reader is (as the name suggests) a reader for opening (in read only format) pdfs, it does not allow you to edit them.

the file types you can upload to a website depend on the settings of the website not changes to your computer or os - if a website only allows pdf format to be uploaded, it wont matter if you are using xp or mac or windows 10 you can still
only upload pdf.

 

Printing to PDF from Microsoft WordPad

Im having trouble printing to PDF from Microsoft WordPad. I use this feature quite often, but since my last windows update it has not worked. After creating my WordPad file, I go to “file” then “print”. I select the “Microsoft Print to PDF” “Printer”
in the printer selection box, then I click on [Print] . After entering my file name and location where I want to save the PDF (and making sure that the file save as type is set to .pdf ), I click on [Save]. After that I get the following error message: “Could
not start print job.”

I have tried a few different suggestions that I have found online, but to no avail. Can someone please help?

These are the suggestions I have tried:

1. Disabling and Enabling the Microsoft Print to PDF feature in Windows Features (restarting PC after each change)...(still couldnt print to PDF after this)

2. Going to Printers and Scanners and Making the Microsoft Print to PDF printer my default printer. (still couldnt print to PDF after this)

3. Going to Printers and Scanners and removing the Microsft Print to PDF printer then adding a “new one” in its place... (still couldnt print to PDF after this)

Im starting to think that it may be a problem with my WordPad app?

Anyways, can someone please help?

Two points:

• You use WordPad to create documents, but they are not saved there. You have to figure out where you saved them.
• The preferred way to save resumes is as a PDF file. Most everyone has a PDF reader. Many do not use Word.
