Windows 10: WordPerfect Keyboard Windows 10 on Dell Inspiron 5555

I purchased a new Dell Inspiron 5555 with a AMD A8 processor and Windows 10 to replace a older dell laptop.
My problem is my Wordperfect X8 keyboard keys won’t work. Keyboard worked fine on the older Dell that also has Windows 10.
I went to Dell support site and updated drives which it had me update bios only.
I’m not a expert but I suspect it is the keyboard driver. For example all I can get the F1 F2 and F3 keys to do is volume control. Indent functions do not work with F7. I tried changing keyboard selection in WP custom settings with no luck.
Any ideas?

Just a hint, look at the Fn and Fx keys and their colored markings, some Notebooks don't use the Fn + Fx key for certain functions like others do. Some functions don't need the combination, just the Fx key as they are marked. That can mess up any change of the keyboard by programs.

 

Thank you for trying but that doesn’t seem to be the problem. I performed the manual Dell keyboard test and the keyboard seems to be doing what it was designed to do in the windows configuration. The problem seems to be that the WP keyboard does not load when running WordPerfect. Only the default windows keys. I can still get at the functions using the curser and mouse but not any of the WP shortcut keys.

 

On my Desktop running Win10 and WordPerfect X7 installed the F7 does do tabs in both the standard WordPerfect keyboard item and the WordPerfect 7 setting in Tools, Settings, Customize. Don't have WP on a Notebook just yet [perhaps this evening if nothing gets in the way].

 

This is nothing more than a wild guess, as I've never seen anything about the Fx keyboard not working; the link is to the first step generally used in troubleshooting:

Give it a try, it won't hurt anything, may well not help anything either.

 

I found the problem but not to find the fix. Example, in WordPerfect to get reveal codes one presses alt+F3. But on this computer I also need to press the FN key plus alt+F3 to get reveal codes. Without pressing the FN key I get keyboard default volume control. I have only checked a couple of function keys but this seems to be the issue. Now to find a fix.

 

There may be no fix as the Fn and Fx keys are more hardware related. It depends upon the markings, on most of my Notebooks the white marked symbol is the Fx key alone while the blue Fn key and blue-marked Fx keys are used together. A couple other Notebooks I have are just the opposite, colored Fx keys work alone while the white Fn key is used with the white-marked symbols Fx keys.

 

I've never used them but if you google there are freeware tools that allow you to remap your keyboard keys. Or you can you change the Wordperfect template?

I found the solution. Using Cortina I typed in mblctr, Windows Mobility Center. Then I went to Function Roll Key and changed it from multimedia key to function key.
