Windows 10: Workaround When You Don't Have a Password or a Bitlocker Encryption Key

"Bitlocker Invasion" A week ago I mistakenly turned off my Dell XPS laptop instead of putting it to sleep, which apparently Microsoft interpreted as an invitation to activate the bitlocker encryption and completely lock me out of my own computer. Why Microsoft didn't notify me in advance so I could create my own encryption key is mind-boggling! Regardless of their underlying purpose, I'm still locked out of my laptop, with no way to save my files! Or, so they say? Now supposedly, my only option is to reboot, which I can do. But I still don't want to lose everything on my SSD drive! Which got

Please follow these steps and check if that helps.

Method 1: I suggest you to start the BitLocker Device Encryption service.

Follow the below steps:

1. Press Windows key + R from the Keyboard.

2. Type services.msc and hit Enter.

3. Search for BitLocker Device Encryption service.

4. Double click on BitLocker Device Encryption service and click on Start button.

5. Click on the dropdown list and set the Startup type to Automatic.

If the issue persists then change the password and change the settings on how drive is unlocked at startup.

Bitlocker Drive Encryption

Recently I was attempting to encrypt my drive with bitlocker because windows was suggesting to encrypt them via the security page when logging into my account. Though, when I do attempt to encrypt them with bitlocker it states that my drive is already
encrypted via bitlocker. I was wondering if there was a different way that it needs to be set up because I was hoping to add the extra layer of security to my drives with bitlocker encryption and password protecting them via a recovery key.

I suggest you to perform below mentioned steps to disable BitLocker.

To disable BitLocker I would suggest you try the following steps and see if it helps.

  Press Windows key + X and click on
  Control Panel.

  Change View by from Category
  to Large Icons/Small Icons.
  
• 
  Click on BitLocker Drive Encryption and click on
  Turn BitLocker Off.
  
• 
  Follow on screen instructions. Click on Decrypt the Drive
  when the message appears.
