Windows 10: Workgroup Computers are displayed as Media Devices

I have several Win10 computers on a "WORKGROUP" network. Network location is set to private on all machines with network discovery and file and printer sharing activated. Two computers are listed as workgroup computers and two as media devices. What do I have to do in order to get the media devices to show up as workgroup computers?

Windows 10 Creators Update Networking

Same here. Creators Update a few days ago, and the home networking is broken now.

I am already used to it, that M$ cant manage in years of win10 to save networking settings when updating [...], but this time the workgroup does not appear to other devices, even when i make all the settings i used to have.

The win10cu computer shows being part of the "WORKGROUP", as it would be everything ok, but no other devices see it.

Other devices simply cant see the win10cu computer on the network, as computer, or as a member of the workgroup. However, if i set up media sharing (DLNA, UPNP) that works. So there is NO networking issue. This is clearly a network discovery/sharing issue
with the win10 creators update.

 

Homegroup Broken After Upgrading to Windows 10

I have had same sort of issues, all the computers display join a homegroup, you have been invited to join a homegroup.

Starting the services mentioned made no difference. However I did find that if you changed the name of the workgroup, for most the default is WORKGROUP, to something else, eg. BOB the create a new workgroup option is displayed. So the homegroup settings
are being stored in another folder or in the registry somewhere and need to be cleared.

 

Media Streaming Options was activated. Not sure how that happened and didn't realize it would affect the Workgroup.
