Windows 10: Working Bootable SSD is "unknown, not initialised" when connected to another computer via USB.

Hi All,Running win 10 on an 8 year old HP laptop, I have replaced my SSD although my old one worked fine but was lacking space. Anyway, I would like to access what's on the old SSD so I put it in a USB adaptor thing and plugged it into the computer which is running on my new SSD but it does not show in Explorer. It does show up in Disk Management but it shows as unknown, not initialised. But, and here's the thing, if I remove the new SSD and reinsert the old SSD it boots up fine and seems to be fully functional so I don't know why it won't show as an external disk.I could try to initialise i

Multi-bootable USB

Hey guys from TPU, couldn't find any specific thread pertaining to the question asked on title. As mentioned, I'm trying to create a bootable USB, but with many specifics boots available.

I've been trying to create one with multiple boot device including one that enables me to run Windows 10 directly on the USB Thumb Drive but to no avail.

The list of bootable images i'm trying to create are

1. Windows 10 (A full OS running from thumb drive)
2. Windows 10 ISO (Bootable disk image for fresh install)
3. MemTest86+

Have tried YUMI or UUI from the website USB PenDrive Linux but as this is my first time, i don't know how am i screwing up or am doing it right.. Anyone got a rough idea on a step by step guide? Thanks!

 

Installing Windows onto a blank initialised drive with USB bootable media

Hi,

I have a blank initialised SSD and USB with bootable Win10 on it as downloaded through the official Bootable Media creation tool. When I come to selecting the partition to install on (there are partitions 0 and 1) it gives me an error saying it is not the
expected partition and won't install. What am I doing wrong?

SSD will not initialise

Hello,

When I open disk management, I see my C: drive and also my SSD drive which shows as "Not initialised".

At the moment, the SSD is connected via a STA to USB cable.

However, whenever I select the "initialise" option, the screen appears where I have to select the disk and either MBR or GPT, but when I do so and click OK, the screen closes and the little wheel spins for a second or so and nothing further happens.

Any further advice how I can fix this, please?
