Workstation keeps locking screen after about 5 minutes

I have a few workstations that after doing a Windows 7 to 10 upgrade in place, the workstation automatically locks after about 5 minutes without any user activity.

I looked in the power settings and secpol and didn't see anything that would automatically lock the screen. In event viewer, i get event ID 4800 showing the lock, but not the reason why:

    The workstation was locked.

    Subject:

    Security ID: domain\user1

    Account Name: user1

    Account Domain: domain

    Logon ID: 0x3B24FF

    Session ID: 1

Is there any setting that can show me what is causing the account to lock the screen?

    :)

Screen locks after 5 minutes - common solutions not helping

    Hi there,

I am encountering difficulty with my screen automatically locking after 5 minutes of inactivity. All fixes I have tried have failed to fix the problem. So far I have tried:

    • Disabling the "On resume, display logon screen" checkbox in Screen Saver Settings
    • Editing the Registry and modifying the "Console lock display off timeout" setting under Advanced Plan Options
    • Adding an InactivityTimeoutSecs value of (0x00000000) to the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\
    • Using Command Prompt and powercfg.exe to modify /SETACVALUEINDEX SCHEME_CURRENT SUB_VIDEO VIDEOCONLOCK (as well as /SETDCVALUEINDEX SCHEME_CURRENT SUB_VIDEO VIDEOCONLOCK)
    • Some other fixes I can't remember at the moment
None of these fixes have helped. I can get the screen to timeout after FEWER than 5 minutes, but not more. I don't want to disable the automatic lock screen, I just want it to happen after 15 or 20 minutes instead of 5. Is there any way to determine what
    is causing this automatic timeout?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    -Max

    Lock Screen keeps changing

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Windows Spotlight picks the photos from Bing and displays them in the lock screen. I understand that you have set a picture and it is getting changed automatically.

I suggest you to follow the steps to select the Picture that you want to be displayed on the lock screen. Please follow the steps mentioned below to set a Picture to lock screen:

    1. Press and hold Windows + I key on the keyboard to open settings.
    2. Click on Personalization.
    3. Click on Lock screen.
    4. Click on the drop down under Background and select
      Picture.
    5. Click on Browse and select the picture that you want to set.

    Hope it helps.

Please reply with the status of the issue, we will be glad to help you further.
