Would it be better to back up my old computer via network?

I haven't made a full backup of my Win98SE/XP computer in a long time. I mostly use it as a print server and for playing old games, but it hasn't been my primary computer in a very long time.It has 256gb of storage, and less than 20gb free. It also only has USB 1.1 ports as I'm constantly reminded whenever I turn on the printer by Windows XP nagging me that it could perform faster if I hooked it up to the nonexistent USB 2.0 ports. However it has an IDE ATA 66 connection.Would it be faster to back it up to my Windows 10 computer and share the flash drive I want to back it up to the UBS 3.0 po

    :)

  2. how do i remove old computers from my network?

    Hello BigBoox,

To better assist you with your concern, I'd like to know the following:

    • Confirm which build is currently installed on your device. To check, follow the steps below:
    • Press Windows key + R, then type in winver.
    • Click OK.
    • Are you getting any error messages?
    • Verify if you're concern is regarding Homegroup. If yes, have you tried performing the steps below to remove old computers from your network:
    • Press Windows key + E, then go to Homegroup.
    • Select your <computername> and click on "Remove <computername> from the homegroup" link.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Regards.

Computers Vanished From File Explorer But Network Still Works

I agree with @Try3. I have tried every suggested method to fix Windows networking suggested on these forums. All at best only worked for a short time. The only things that helped was:
    1. Batch file I suggested in an earlier post
    2. Creating shortcuts to computers on my home network
Note these two things are not fixes but workaround. However, at least they help and have never failed.

I have shortcuts set up for eight computers on my home network. I have created a folder on my desktop called My Network to hold the shortcuts. They have a mix of the following operating systems:
    • Windows 10 - 4
    • Windows 7 - 3
    • Windows XP - 1

Would it be better to back up my old computer via network?

One computer cannot access other network computers.

So I've tried every troubleshooting step I know:
    • Double checked that Net Bios was enabled
    • Ran a bunch of network commands:
      • flushed DNS
      • registered dns
      • pinged and located the named computers successfully
    • Reset my router to factory settings

Nothing works when I try to access via explorer. I'm still baffled by the fact that every other computer can access each other AND access this computer. It's just the outgoing connection from this machine that doesn't work.

    Any thoughts?
