Windows 10: Would like a notification of a pending update before download begins

Is there an option in Windows update to notify me that there is an update available? When a large update, such as the Windows 10 Version 2004, begins to download, it ties REALLY SLOWS DOWN the internet connection and ties up the laptop. I would like to be able to determine when downloads occur so I can plan accordingly.


In Windows 7, there was an icon on the task bar saying that an updates was available and we could pick when to do the download.

Yeah, thats not a solution she is interested in......I've suggested that course of action. Thanks though.

Just to clarify, I feel that there MUST be a step, or series of steps to turn off JUST the wireless notification sound. Thats what Im driving @ here.

 

..where'd my 'pending windows updates' notifications go?

I was looking in the Restart options, and mine are off. Maybe that's where you turn it on to get them like we used to? It's only showing that a restart in needed, but not if there are pending updates to install.
