Windows 10: Would the monitor drivers be disabling brightness in Windows?

TL;DR: Could the drivers of the monitor be handling and thus disabling brightness settings even though there is no external monitor? For context, I am trying to get the most accurate sRGB colours possible if an image is displayed with the sRGB colour profile embedded oddly specific I know, I have enabled sRGB mode on my monitor which provides the most accurate sRGB colours, but even when I disconnect my external monitor, there is no option to change brightness via Windows, which their support site only mentions this being a problem when an external monitor is connected. • Click the Windows logo; then, search for Control Panel.
• Select Hardware and Sound.
• Choose Power Options.
• On the next screen you should see brightness slider at the bottom of the Control Panel window.
