  1. Wouldn't it be nice if settings and controll panel are consolidated into "settings" app alone??

Both settings and control panel are to control windows so I feel it would be better if integrated together as settings and so no need of control panel anymore. Few times if we click on a functionality at settings we get redirected to control panel and vice versa and this is really annoying.More-over we have been seen the control panel for years, won't it be nice if we have only 'settings' to control and personalise everything in win11 ?!?!

    Settings App vs. Control Panel?

one day the control panel will be completely gone.

but microsoft has to take baby steps to avoid problems.

and other companys will have to convert their control panel files to work with the settings app.

Difference between settings & control panel?

In the beginning there was just the Control Panel. Windows 8 introduced the Settings app, but it was very limited in scope, almost everything important was still just in the Control Panel.

With Windows 10 Settings became more comprehensive, but at first (version 1507, the original release) almost every setting was in parallel with an equivalent in the Control Panel. With each new version since then Settings has been improved, to the state now where for some functions it is sufficiently developed so that the equivalent function can be removed from Control Panel.

It's a continuing evolution and it's not finished yet. Microsoft's apparent aim seems to be to do away with the control panel completely, or at least, only keep it for the more difficult 'advanced settings'.

Wouldn't it be nice if settings and controll panel are consolidated into "settings" app alone??

    Control Panel vs. Settings?

I prefer control panel. I found it after digging around and sent a shortcut to start.

    Questions:

    1. I know MS is looking to get rid of control panel in favor of settings. However, is it possible to add control panel to the start right click list?

    2. Is there a way to change settings display so it lists the traditional icons?
