    Wow...I’m really hating Windows 10

I apologize for the rant, I’m just frustrated.

So I haven’t used Windows in several years. The last reliable Windows machine I used was Windows 7 and after that I switched to Mac because Windows 8 was just a pain.

But I decided to go back to Windows because I need a more powerful machine for work and because I’m doing more 3D design work.

...and wow! It’s terrible! Here’s been my experiences so far with my “new” computer.

    • Right off the bat it wouldn’t properly reboot or shut down. Windows would shut down but the computer would never restart...I’d have to manually turn the machine on and off. Anyways, after hours of messing with it the company I bought it from determined the motherboard was to blame so I shipped it back and they replaced it...and that took a good week and a half. Granted, that’s a hardware issue but it doesn’t instill a lot of confidence.

    • So now I’ve had it back for a few days and every time the screen turns on, it’s scrambled. Just the primary monitor, mind you. Secondary monitor (which ever one it’s set to) works fine. Primary is scrambled every time the screen turns on. The most efficient way to fix it, I’ve found, is to open Nvidia presences, switch the primary monitors back and forth and then it fixes itself. I have to do this every time the screen turns back on. Every time. I know it’s not the screen that has the issue because the screen works fine in the BIOS.

    • This morning I turned it on and the Bluetooth was completely gone. Just...absolutely gone. As if it never existed. I messed with it for a few hours, installing and uninstalling drivers and BIOS and all that crap... The last step I didn’t try was to physically open the computer and manually unplug / plug in the network card...and call me crazy but I don’t think I should have to do that on my brand new computer...nor do I want to either, I’m not into screwing with the hardware or the OS, I just need it to run my software and a few devices.

    • Apparently I’m not the only one with this problem, I’ve seen dozens and dozens of articles and posts about this Bluetooth issue and the only reliable way to solve it is to buy an external Bluetooth adapter. “Here’s your new car! The radio doesn’t work though...you’ll need to hang this shower radio on your rear view mirror if you want to listen to anything.”

I can’t wait to see what joy and loss of productivity Windows has in store for me tomorrow. If I could afford a Mac with the hardware I need I’d go back to it in a second. I can’t believe after decades of making the worlds most popular OS that Windows can’t put out something reliable. Very frustrating.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:
    • Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
    • Try different keyboard or mouse.
    • Restart computer, repeatedly.
    • Google for related issues.
    • Update Bios, because why not.
    • Create boot media and revert to windows 7.
The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.
