  1. Wow Windows 10 finally really killed my firewire device

I own a Focusrite Saffire sound interface, it was acting weird in Windows 10, but when it wasnt going crazy, it worked. Yesterday, the FW link light in the device didnt light up. The IEEE 1394 port in the Device Manager isnt nowhere to be found.

I tried several installation of legacy drivers and some other things, but it isnt showing.

I ask about installing Windows 10 with an older built and prevent it from updating, but here people warm me that I will have security issues.

Do you have any clue what I could do?

    Regards

Windows 10 64bit won't recognize my camcorder via firewire.

    Hi Zane,

For us to isolate the concern, kindly answer the following:

    • Does you Sharp DV Mini Camcorder works on other computer?
    • Have you tried using a different Firewire cable?
    • Do you still have any other devices or other Camcorder that can be connected using the Firewire? If so, have you tried connecting them using your Windows 10 computer to check if they will work?
    • Have you followed the steps provided by Ramesh.Kumar? If so, kindly provide us the result.
    • What is happening when you're connecting your Sharp DV Mini Camcorder using Firewire? Are you receiving any error messages
Hope to hear from you soon.

firewire 1394 device does not appear to be communicating with Windows 10

I have just purchased a new laptop computer running Windows 10 and it has two USB type C and one USB Type A serial connectors. I have equipment which utilizes firewire 1394 with a firewire 6 pin connection and the new computer does not have a firewire
controller card installed in it. . I purchased a firewire 6 pin female to USB adapter male adapter, installed the firewire device drivers (audio mixing board), plugged the firewire device in and found that the device will not communicate with windows. I
don't see any firewire device in Device manager and I am not sure if Windows is communicating with the firewire device... Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Does Windows 10 Pro x64 support Firewire adapter?

    I learned Windows 10 does support firewire. A 3 port firewire 1394B & 1394A PCIe card
adapter was installed and sure enough, the system does recognized the device. The device manager lists the firewire adapter as, "Texas Instruments 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller." The firewire device supports both 800 or 400 Mbps. A
HD camcorder (Canon HV20) connected to either 1394a or the 1394b port and was tested, both 1394a and b worked.

So to answer my own question, yes, Windows 10 supports firewire.
